ABOUT ME

Lisa Binderow is a New York City-based International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 2004 where she received a B.A. in Literature, Science, & Arts. Before beginning her specialized studies in lactation, she worked for over ten years in the health & wellness industry. During that time, Lisa was the Teacher Director for YogaWorks. She completed over 500 hours of Yoga Teacher Training, as well as additional education in Restorative and Prenatal yoga. She is also the Founder of nicepipes apparel, a women’s activewear line that specializes in cold weather workout accessories.

After the birth of her daughter Siena, pictured below next to her own baby photo, Lisa felt a powerful shift in her personal and professional goals. She decided that her decade-long passion for helping others to discover a meaningful connection to their minds and bodies could best be channeled into supporting new . And so, her journey to become an IBCLC began. Lisa first pursued an advanced Health Science education, she completed her clinical training in both private-practice and outpatient clinical settings, and finally sat for the IBCLC board exam. She is now proud to run her lactation consultant practice with the goal of providing a balanced approach to breastfeeding, chestfeeding, bottle feeding and postpartum support.

Lisa is a wife, a mom, a daughter, a sister, a friend, and an entrepreneur. She is a sunshine & outdoor enthusiast, a student at the School of Practical Philosophy, and an exceptional martini maker.

What is an IBCLC?

IBCLC stands for International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is the highest level credential for health care professionals who specialize in the clinical management of breastfeeding. IBCLCs are certified by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners, Inc. (IBLCE) Candidates must complete the required Health Science education, lactation specific coursework, as well as a minimum of 500 hours of supervised clinical work. Upon completion of their education and clinical experience they must pass the IBCLC exam set by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE).
